Usually yes for doors built 1980 or later with a standard 2 1/8 inch bore and 2 3/4 inch backset. Older doors often need door prep, non-standard bore widening, strike-plate cutout deepening, or mortise-pocket adaptation. We assess on dispatch and quote the prep cost separately if needed.
Depends on the model. Schlage Encode and Yale Assure with Wi-Fi connect directly to your router, no hub needed. August historically required a separate Bridge; newer models have Wi-Fi built in. Z-Wave and Zigbee locks always need a hub (SmartThings, Hubitat, Apple Home with a Home Hub). We confirm before recommending which model.
Most smart deadbolts run 6 to 12 months on 4 AA batteries depending on use. We install with brand-new batteries; you replace them when the lock chirps a low-battery warning (every model has one). All quality smart locks have a key override so you’re not locked out even with dead batteries.
Yes, Schlage Encode, Yale Assure with physical key option, and Kwikset Halo all include a key-cylinder backup. We can rekey the cylinder to match your existing house key so one key works on all your doors. Level Lock is the exception. It’s keyed-entry-or-smart-only depending on model.
